Bells, Food & Fire

We are situated in the heart of the "centro storico" the old town dating from around the 11th century which is a maze of narrow alleys that wind down to the sea below. It has similarities with San Paul de Vance in France or Mijas in Spain but not as touristic. The alley below is from our house up to the town centre.
Behind the house is the church, which rings the bell at 7am for the first mass of the day and then a few times through the day until the last service at 5pm.
Yesterday we took a trip out to the westernmost lake. the Lago di Lesina. Peschici looked great in the sunshine as we drove out.
The satnav has been a godsend for navigation in unknown areas, but it has huge difficulty in Peschici. As the streets are extremely narrow and the climb to the town is a series of very tight hairpin bends, it means that as we zig zag up the hill the satnav can't identify which strip of the road we are on, thinks we are going the wrong way and cries"off route -recalculating"

In the pine forest by the coast there had been a recent fire. Whether man made or from nature these fires are great for regeneration. You can see the blackened pine bark in the picture below, but the fresh wood beneath is unharmed.

Today is the food shop research and we have Burrata Foglia for breakfast. It's a pear shaped soft mozarella shell with fresh cream and mozzaralla strips inside. With tomatoes, basil and fresh bread - heaven !
