What A horrendous day
We've reaached the town of Cesena.
512 miles, 9 hours, snowing hard for most of that time. The above is the shot grabbed as we entered the 8 mile Frejus tunnel. The steambillowing out extends about 100 yards into the tunnel as the warm 20C air from inside meets the -2C outside.
We had a short period of driving without the windscreen wipers and then we descended into torrential rain.
Things we've learnt.
Italian cars must be fitted with some device that enables them to be driven at 90 mph in any road condition.
The French take the gritting of the autoroutes more seriously than the Italians.
Petrol is cheaper in Italy and the motorway service areas are full of the most wonderful Italian food supplies.
Breakfast now and hen the final 250 miles down the Adriatic Coast. Tonight we'll be in our new home.
